As a testament to the craftsmanship displayed by our electricians, Pieper Houston completed the renovation of one of the oldest places of worship in Houston. Christ Church is proud of its 180-year history in Houston. The Cathedral’s buildings date back as far as 1893 and required work that had to comply with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. The interior of the 1893 sanctuary required, lighting upgrades and a new electronic sound system to improve acoustics in the sanctuary. The most complex interior work was the complete renovation of the sacristy.  Work on this project was successfully completed in August 2018.

In July 2019 Pieper Houston Electric, as a trade partner to Tellepsen started construction on a $4.8 million renovation and expansion project to St. Martin’s Episcopal Church. St. Martin’s is the largest Episcopal church in North America.

The project includes remodel and expansion of the chapel music building, renovations to church sitework renovations to the chapel building. Also included are upgrades to the children’s education center, and the day care facility. The project is scheduled to be complete in the third quarter of 2021.

St. Peters Chancery Building

Our Lady of Walsingham has recently added St. Peter’s Chancery to their grounds. The building includes space for administration as well as clergy offices, classrooms and an auditorium. The new ground-up, two-story building also has four great mosaics of St. Peter, St. Paul, St. Gregory the Great and St. Augustine of Canterbury in the entry hall. Pieper helped install an LED lighting package and other high-end finishes to this beautiful building.

St. Martins Episcopal Church

As part of this project’s design team, Pieper-Houston Electric incorporated large dimming systems to help create this one-of-a-kind lighting design, which illuminates the church’s elaborate and beautiful stained glass windows.

These enormous focal points now glow from both the inside and outside during the night for all to see. Many of these elaborate windows span as large as 26′ tall and 14′ wide.

St. John Lutheran Church

When the congregation outgrew its current worship center, it decided to launch a new building campaign for the church located in Cypress, Texas. The church hired Pieper as its engineer of record and installing contractor. Pieper also collaborated with Brookstone Construction and Ziegler Cooper Architects.

“A main challenge of this design-build involved wiring the new sanctuary, while maintaining power for the rest of the functioning campus,” said John Burkhart, Pieper’s project manager.

St. Cecilia Catholic Community

After recognizing the need for more space, St. Cecilia chose Pieper to help renovate its existing space and add to the growing community. The additions included building a new educational facility and upgrading technology facilities for the school’s laboratory equipment and educational software, as well as renovating the parish building.

The campus also required repairs on the faculty service run between the main and gym/cafeteria. Pieper, with John Burkhart as project manager, teamed up with Tellepsen Builders to help St. Cecilia achieve its goals. The expansion and renovations exemplify the school’s focus of giving children the knowledge, support and strength they need to grow and succeed in mind, heart and spirit.

River Oaks Baptist Church & School

Built in the 1950s, the River Oaks Baptist School’s sanctuary underwent a remodel. Pieper installed a new lighting and dimming system for the interior of the facility. The sanctuary is just one building on a campus that spans 12 acres.

The late material delivery deadline for the dimming system, coupled with a short schedule, posed an interesting challenge, said Pieper Project Manager Josh Lauret. However, Lauret was pleased to continue Pieper’s longstanding relationships with the school and their partners on the project.

“We also take care of the church and school’s electrical maintenance regularly,” Lauret said. “We’ve had a great working relationship with them.”

Notre Dame Catholic Church

Located at Beltway 8 and Bellaire Boulevard, Notre Dame Catholic Church received an Award of Excellence from the McGraw Hill Construction – Texas Construction News Best of 2010 Awards Program for its design. Partnering with Turner Duran Architects and Brookstone Construction, Pieper helped build this 20,000 sq. ft. facility, which included a 1,100-seat worship space, 100-seat chapel, elevated sanctuary and a large gathering hall, on an existing, fully functioning campus.

Mary Queen Catholic Church

Working with Tellepsen Builders and HBL Architects, we completed the new 38,000 sq. ft. sanctuary for Mary Queen Catholic Church in Friendswood, Texas. A design/build project, the sanctuary was built on an existing and active campus and finished March 2012.

Pieper was pleased to be the engineer of record and installing contractor. When asked what possible issues Pieper faced along the way, Pieper Project Manager John Burkhart said, “It’s never a challenge when you are working with a great group like Tellepsen, HBL and the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.”

Grace Bible Church

Founded in 2003, Grace Bible Church just completed the construction of their new 61,075 sq. ft. sanctuary, located on an 8.9 acre lot. Pieper partnered with Tellepsen Builders and Jackson-Galloway Associates for the design and construction of the building from the ground up. Special features of the project include the wagon wheel lighting in the sanctuary.

Christ Church Cathedral

As one of the oldest Episcopal churches in Texas, Christ Church Cathedral has been a landmark in the community for more than 170 years. When the church approached Pieper with its Chancel lighting project, Pieper knew it faced great responsibility in doing justice to the facility and properly showcasing the beautiful stained glass windows.

Throughout this design/build project, Pieper listened carefully to meet the goals and needs of the congregation and completed the project to rave reviews, according to William D. Kovach, CPA, chief administrative officer of Christ Church Cathedral.

Champion Forest Baptist Church

Champion Forest Baptist Church features 168,000 sq. ft. of educational space in three two-story buildings. Pieper partnered with Tellepsen Builders and Studio RED Architects to handle this fast-paced project, in which we installed the electrical lighting, power and service entrance. Boring 17’ under an existing building to bring in power for the student building posed an interesting challenge, but Pieper was up to the task! The church was successfully completed in 2010.
